Good Bye 2014 Hello 2015

This is the time of year when people reflect on the past year and wonder what is in store for them in the coming year. For me some of the reflections are good and some are bad. There are good accomplishments and reminders I need to do better. I look forward to the coming year with some trepidation, but also with some hope that I can do better.
One of the things I started last year was at the end of every day I wrote a quick note about something good I did or something happy. It’s a habit that only lasted for about three months, but I saved those notes and I looked at them today. There were a wide range of good things I did. I helped two families move. I took a friend to his daily IV therapy at the hospital. I got roses for my wife on Valentines. Played video games with my son. Cleaned the house. I liked looking through the notes. I am going to do it again this year and double my efforts to write a note every day for the entire year.
On the sad side of things my older brother died from MS. He was 48 years old. I had lost contact with him over the years, but connected with him a little before the end. I feel mostly for his twin brother. I know this has been hard on him. I wish we were closer so I could be there for him.
This past year I started my blog back up. It has been difficult to find topics to write about. I hope those who do read it do not mind all the reviews of movies, anime, and manga.
On the writing front I have not done as good as I should have. I let myself be distracted too easily by day to day stuff. However, I did complete one full length story and several short stories. I have created a line of short stories about a futuristic spy in a world that is run by corporations.
In the coming year I hope to improve on the things I did in the past year. I feel as though I am doing things right, I just need to do them better.
I will still do postings for my blog. I hope to find better topics on the Geek Life. Maybe if there is anyone out there with some suggestions, I would be happy to hear them.
I am going to concentrate more on writing than getting stuff done around the house. Yes, I do have responsibilities to my family and my home, but I can and need to make time to write every day. I want to create enough short stories about my futuristic spy that I can put them altogether in a book.
I plan to continue making daily notes on good things that happen. I want to make it through the entire year.
Finally I hope to improve my relationship with my brother. He’s a good man and he works hard to provide for his family. My life will only be fuller with him back in it. I hope I can provide something for him.
The most important thing for the coming year is to be happy. Enjoy the family and friends that you have around you. People in the world say you are supposed to live life to the fullest. I think we are as long as we do what makes us happy and we are around people who make us feel good.
Here’s to a New Year. May it be happy and full.
